(KAIR)--An Atchison man earns probation as the outcome of a case stemming from an Atchison Police investigation that led to last year's arrest on charges including abuse of a child.
According to court records, 28-year-old Zachary Voelker was sentenced in Atchison County District Court on April 10, receiving consecutive prison terms totaling 30 months, but the court suspended prison and placed him on probation with community corrections for 2-years. The court also ordered costs and fees and left a no-contact order in place.
Voelker, in April, waived a preliminary hearing and pleaded guilty to amended charges of aggravated endangering a child and aggravated battery.
The case stems from an Atchison Police investigation in December of last year, when officers responded to a disturbance call at a home in the 1200 block of South 10th Street where an injured child, under the age of 2, was located. The child did not require hospital treatment.
