Brian Shefferd/Credit: city of Hiawatha

 

(KNZA)--Hiawatha City Commissioner Brian Shefferd has filed for the position of Mayor.

Shefferd is the first candidate to file for the position currently held by Becky Shamburg.  He ran unsuccessfully against Shamburg in 2022.

Also up for election on the Hiawatha City Commission this fall is Commissioner of Seat One, currently held by David Middendorf.  Mitch Bruning has filed for that seat.

Positions on the commission are non-partisan.

Also up for election in Brown County is the position of 1st District County Commissioner, currently held by Richard Tesoriero.  In addition, voters will also decide who should fill the unexpired term of Register of Deeds.

In Fairvew, the position of Mayor and two city council seats are up for election.

Candidates have until noon June 1st to file at the Brown County Clerk's Office.

The primary election is August 4th and the general election is November 3rd.
