(KAIR)--Atchison police made drug-related arrests on three consecutive days over the extended Memorial Day holiday weekend.
That's according to a release from Atchison Police Chief Mike Wilson, who says the first arrest came late Friday night. That followed an officer on patrol spotting 41-year-old Jason Nowak of Atchison in the 900 block of North 9th Street. First placed into custody on a Municipal Court warrant for failure to appear, Nowak was subsequently found to be in the alleged possession of fentanyl and drug paraphernalia.
Saturday evening, officers responded to an apartment complex at 832 Commercial Street after a report that a person previously trespassed from the property had returned. Officers located 25-year-old Jarrett Lynn of Atchison in the 800 block of Main Street, where he allegedly resisted arrest before being taken into custody. Lynn was subsequently found in the alleged possession of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia and faces charges for that crime as well as criminal trespass and interference with law enforcement.
Then Sunday evening, an officer on patrol stopped a vehicle in the 900 block of South 7th Street for a traffic violation. 55-year-old Jason Thomas of Cummings was subsequently found to be in the alleged possession of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia. Thomas also faces traffic-related charges of transporting an open container, an expired tag, driving without a required ignition interlock device, and no proof of insurance.
Following their subsequent arrests, all three, Nowak, Lynn, and Thomas, were booked into the Atchison County Jail.
