In a release, the Kansas Department of Transportation says work began Wednesday on the structure just south of Denton over the North Branch Independence Creek.
KDOT says the work zone will be reduced to one lane for the duration of the project, with traffic controlled by temporary signals. Drivers should plan for delays of up to 15 minutes, and an 11-foot width restriction will also be in effect.
Work is scheduled Monday through Friday during daylight hours and is expected to wrap up in October. KDOT notes all project work and traffic changes are conditions permitting and subject to change.
The prime contractor is PCI Roads of St. Michael, Minnesota, on a project valued at $738,000.
KDOT is reminding motorists to stay alert and follow posted signs in all work zones.
