(KNZA)--The Hiawatha City Commission in a special meeting Wednesday evening awarded the contract for the 1st and Oregon Street traffic signal project.
Based on the recommendation of the project engineer, the Commission voted unanimously to award the project to Oklahoma City-based TLS Group at a cost of $436,776, and authorized City Administrator Brad Scott to sign the contract.
Bids were opened May 20th and the bid was the lowest amount two received.  It was well under the engineers estimate of more than $659,000.
The project is to begin this summer and be substantially completed on or before August 14, 2026.
