(KNZA)--Hiawatha Community Foundation’s sixth annual “Give Back to Move Forward” Match Day event over the Memorial Day weekend set a new record.

Organizers say 1,046 gifts totaling more than 345-thousand dollars were donated to benefit 53 different funds. Qualifying gifts of up to one-thousand dollars were eligible for matching funds.

The Hiawatha Fire Department fund generated the largest amount of donations, totaling more than 62-thousand dollars. That was followed by the Hiawatha Championship Sports Complex fund, which received nearly 24-thousand dollars, and the Hiawatha Community Foundation operating fund, which brought in nearly 17-thousand dollars.
