(KLZA)--Richardson County Commissioners have declined an opportunity to adopt a resolution that would set forth any regulations regarding inspections of swimming pools, recreational camps and mobile home parks in regards to LB-759 passed during the 2026 Legislative session, and to request the Southeast District Health Department provide and implement such regulations.
SE District Health Department Executive Director Grant Brueggemann noted in correspondence the legislation would include Camp Cornhusker located in Richardson County.
Chris Reece, Coordinator of the Southeast Nebraska Adult Drug Court updated Commissioners on activity within the Adult Drug Court in the past year. He also presented the amount Richardson County would contribute to the budget for Fiscal Year 26-27 which amounts to $10,173.
The Board voted to enter into and interlocal agreement with the court for the next year. Otoe, Nemaha, Johnson, and Pawnee counties are also part of the group.
Melanie Stormer, Chief Probation Officer for District 1, presented the FY 26-27 budget to the Board, seeking a contribution of $8,880, which is a decrease of $1,786 from the previous year.
Stormer also revealed plans are being developed to consolidate county office to centrally located offices to assist with staffing and reduce office expenses within the next few years.
Chief Deputy Sheriff Dexter Holiday met with the Board for the Law Enforcement update. During April, the Richardson County Sheriff's Office responded to 505 total calls of which 232 were traffic stops with 39 arrests being made, 33 by the Sheriff's Department, 5 from other agencies and one from out of county.
