(KNZA)--Two people were arrested on drug-related charges following a traffic stop in Holton late Tuesday night.
Jackson County Sheriff Tim Morse says a deputy stopped a Chevrolet S-10 for a traffic violation near 7th Street and Arizona Avenue shortly before 11:30 p.m.
During the stop, the deputy developed probable cause to search the vehicle. Morse says the search uncovered suspected methamphetamine, other illegal drugs, and drug paraphernalia.
The driver, 59-year-old Patricia Scholz of Troy, was arrested on charges of possession of an opiate, opioid, narcotic, or certain stimulant, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, and transporting an open container.
A passenger, 41-year-old Misty Mitchell of St. Joseph, Missouri, was also arrested on charges of possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, and transporting an open container.
Both were booked into the Jackson County Jail.
