According to a release from the Doniphan County Sheriff's Office, deputies assisted the Brown County Sheriff's Office on Monday in connection with an ongoing theft investigation involving about $6,000 in power tools stolen from a rural Brown County residence.
Identified by investigators as the primary suspect is 46-year-old Ryan Simmonds of Mound City, Missouri. Evidence gathered during the investigation included surveillance footage and information about a vehicle connected to the theft, leading investigators to obtain multiple jurisdictional search warrants.
According to the release, Simmonds, during the search warrant executions, was located but fled into a wooded area; but, after an extensive search, he was eventually apprehended. Simmonds and 27-year-old Bridget Edie of White Cloud were both arrested and booked into the Doniphan County Jail on suspicion of possession of stolen property and interference with law enforcement.
