(KNZA)--The Hiawatha City Commission has approved dates and times for fireworks at the city lake ahead of the Independence Day holiday.
Commissioners Monday night agreed that fireworks may be discharged at the city lake from July 1 through July 3 until 10 p.m., and on July 4 until midnight.
Previously, the Commission approved the use of “safe and sane” fireworks within the Hiawatha city limits on July 3 and 4 from noon until 9 p.m. Those fireworks are defined as devices that do not explode and do not leave the ground.
The city’s annual fireworks display is scheduled for dusk on July 3 at the Ag Museum and Noble Park.
