(KNZA)--The Kansas Department of Transportation is recognizing Horton Area Office Manager Leisa Halling for reaching an impressive milestone—50 years of service with the State of Kansas.

Halling began her state career in June of 1976 with the Kansas Department of Revenue before transferring to KDOT's Horton Area Office in 1978. She was promoted to Area Office Manager in 1996.

In her role, Halling oversees procurement activities and provides administrative support for payroll, personnel and fiscal operations. She also serves as the primary point of contact for the Horton Area Office, assisting employees, local agencies, law enforcement and the public.

Halling and her husband, Tom, live in Denton. They have three adult children and five grandchildren.
