(KAIR)--A registered sex offender from Rushville, Missouri was arrested in nearby Atchison, Kansas Monday, accused of failing to register as required for his past crimes.

42-year-old Thomas A. Blankenship was taken into custody by Atchison Police shortly before 5:00 Monday evening in the 10000 block of U.S. Highway 59.According to Atchison Police Chief Mike Wilson, Blankenship was arrested on Buchanan County, Missouri warrants charging him with failure to register as a sex offender and non support.

Once in custody, Blankenship was booked into the Atchison County Jail.

Online court records show Blankenship's past crime occurring in Atchison when he was 19-years old, convicted of attempted aggravated indecent liberties with a girl of 15. That was in 2003 according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.
