Atchison Residents Urged to Re-Register for Emergency Alert System

(KAIR)--The City of Atchison is sending a reminder to residents who want emergency alerts to take action now or risk missing such notifications.

Atchison County Emergency Management is switching its emergency alert system from CodeRed to a new provider called Everbridge. The change affects all county residents, but city officials want to make sure Atchison residents are aware that their existing CodeRed registration will not carry over. Anyone who signed up through CodeRed will need to sign up again through Everbridge to continue receiving alerts.

The CodeRed system has been used to notify residents of severe weather, fires, boil water notices, and other emergencies. Officials say the new Everbridge platform will offer those same emergency notifications, along with additional non-emergency alerts as well.

Residents are encouraged to sign up for Everbridge as soon as possible to avoid a gap in coverage. Information on how to register is below.
