Hiawatha mail carrier injured in delivery accident

(KNZA)--A Hiawatha mail carrier suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries in an accident Sunday morning while delivering Amazon Sunday parcels.

According to a social media post from Hiawatha Postmaster Ashley Martinez, the carrier is reported to be in stable condition.

Martinez said the accident also resulted in extensive damage to packages being delivered. Customers who see a tracking status indicating their Amazon package was "disposed of at the local office" or another damaged or disposed status are being asked to contact Amazon Customer Service directly for a replacement or refund.

The postmaster said contacting Amazon will be the fastest way for affected customers to resolve issues with damaged or destroyed packages.

No additional details about the accident were immediately available.
