(KNZA)--The Doniphan County Commission has approved a zoning change that will allow a limestone quarry to operate near Highland.
County Zoning Administrator Scott Morris presented commissioners Monday with a recommendation from the Doniphan County Planning Commission regarding a request from Buffalo Hollow Farms and Schneider Quarries.
The change allows property at 1754 Friendship Road and adjacent acreage to remain zoned agricultural, but adds a conditional use designation for limestone quarry operations.
Morris said neighboring property owners were notified of the request and no objections were received.
Commissioners approved the zoning amendment on a unanimous vote, clearing the way for the quarry operation to move forward under county requirements.
