(KNZA)--Drivers on U.S. 73 in Brown County should prepare for delays starting Friday as a major road project gets underway.
According to the Kansas Department of Transportation, work begins Friday, July 17th, on a 24-mile mill and overlay project on U.S. 73, starting at the Kansas-Nebraska state line and continuing south to the northern city limit of Horton.
KDOT says traffic will be restricted to one lane and directed by a pilot car and flaggers where crews are actively working, with drivers advised to plan for delays of up to 15 minutes.
Work will take place during daylight hours Monday through Friday and is expected to wrap up by early September.
KDOT notes all project work and traffic changes are weather and conditions permitting and subject to change.
APAC-Kansas Inc.'s Shears Division, of Hutchinson, is the prime contractor on the $4.8 million project.
