(KLZA)-- Richardson County Commissioners have received notice from the Nebraska Association of Public Employees Local 61 which represents the Road Department Union employees, of two grievances being filed.

The first grievance was filed on behalf of Roger Glathar, who was reprimanded on June 25th for not leaving the shop with his maintainer on June 25 and leaving the Humboldt Shop late June 23 and 24.

Glathar disagreed with the description of the violation.

A grievance was filed on behalf of Bryan Dettman due to an alleged incident on June 23 when Dettman was found sleeping in his maintainer. The grievance alleges Dettman violated work rules by sleeping in his maintainer while it was running, creating an unsafe situation.

Dettman responded that he only sleeps during his breaks.

The Commissioners will now schedule a date for a hearing on these grievances.

The Union representing the Road Department employees has also filed a petition to the Commission of Industrial Relations seeking a court order to temporarily prohibit the implementation of the use of a GPS and / or AI Integrated camera system.

Richardson County says all county vehicles have been equipped with dash cameras and the GPS systems that are installed on the county owned heavy equipment pieces in an effort to assist the county in reducing liability and also assisting with record keeping on the maintenance of county roads.

The Road Department union employees are seeking an order specifically directing the County not require the employees to be submitted to GPS technology.
