Falls City to develop ordinance to deal with E-bikes and motorizes scooters

The Falls City Council is moving forward with having City Attorney Mike Dunn draft an ordinance concerning the riding of scooters and e-bikes on city streets and sidewalks.

City Administrator told the Council that numerous complaints have been received by the Falls City Police Department about people riding the bikes and scooters around town and not obeying traffic rules and riding them in the downtown business area, and creating near-misses with automobiles and pedestrians.

This is not just an issue in Falls City with a number of other communities developing ordinances to regulate them.

Several people addressed the Council Monday night relaying their concerns about the dangerous manner in which many of the e-bikes and scooters are being operated.

The City will review ordinances that have been adopted in other communities around the state as the ordinance is developed.
