(KNZA)--Doniphan County Commissioners are proposing a 2027 budget that exceeds the state's revenue neutral rate.
The proposed budget totals about $15.5 million and includes an estimated property tax levy of 40.25 mills, about 2.6 mills higher than the revenue neutral rate.
If approved, the budget would generate nearly $6.6 million in property tax revenue.
The county's assessed valuation increased by nearly $9.5 million.
A public hearing on both the proposed budget and the county's intent to exceed the revenue neutral rate is scheduled for Monday, August 24, at 9:30 a.m. in the Commissioners Room at the Doniphan County Courthouse.
