(KNZA)--A Winchester man has been selected to fill a vacancy on the Jefferson County Commission.
According to the Jefferson County Clerk's Office, members of the 3rd District Republican precinct committee selected Richard Jobbins Tuesday evening to fill the vacancy created by the retirement resignation of former longtime Commissioner Richard Malm.
Jobbins was among three candidates nominated and was elected with 4 out of 5 votes.
His name will now by forwarded to Governor Kelly, who will make the official appointment.
Malm resigned from Commission July 6th, effective immediately. He had served on the commission since 2009. Malm also previously held a stint on the board from 1985 to 1989.
Jobbins will fill a term expiring in January 2029.
