Brown County Sheriff thanks summer meal volunteers

(KNZA)--The Brown County Sheriff's Office will wrap up its "No Hunger Summer" lunch program on Friday, July 31.

Sheriff John Merchant says the program, hosted for many years at the sheriff's office, helps ensure children have access to nutritious lunches during the summer months.

Merchant credited volunteers for the program's success, saying it would not be possible without their dedication. Volunteers spent countless hours preparing sandwiches, packing lunch bags, distributing meals, unloading food deliveries and handling paperwork.

The food and training were provided by Second Harvest, and Merchant thanked the organization along with all of the community volunteers who helped make the program a success both at the sheriff's office and at other locations where lunches are provided to children.
