(KNZA)--A new Doniphan County undersheriff will begin work Friday, July 31.

Sheriff Mark Allen announced at Monday's Doniphan County Commission meeting that former Undersheriff Brendan Wolvington has accepted a position with the Iowa Tribe of Kansas and Nebraska.

Allen says Jeremy Peak of Hiawatha has been hired as the county's new undersheriff.

Peak joins the Doniphan County Sheriff's Office after serving as a deputy with the Brown County Sheriff's Office. He also previously worked as a deputy with the Atchison County Sheriff's Office.
