At Monday's meeting, Sheriff Mark Allen and Maintenance Superintendent Dennis McKittrick presented bids from Lee Grover Construction of St. Joseph, Missouri to repair the building's exterior insulation and finish system, known as EIFS, as well as interior flooring.
McKittrick told commissioners that several contractors were contacted, but few in the area specialize in EIFS work.
Commissioners unanimously approved a bid of $69,750 for exterior repairs and $16,250 for installation of an aggregate broadcast flooring material inside the facility.
The work will be paid for using proceeds from the county's new sales tax fund.
