(KNZA)--Two people were arrested on drug charges following an early Tuesday morning traffic stop in Jackson County.

Sheriff Tim Morse says a deputy stopped a pickup shortly before 2:00 a.m. on 150th Road near Q Road after allegedly observing a traffic violation.

The driver, 36-year-old Craig Lewis of Topeka, reportedly told the deputy his driver's license was suspended. Morse says Lewis allegedly refused commands to exit the vehicle and was arrested for interference with law enforcement. Deputies then developed probable cause to search the pickup.

Morse says the search uncovered suspected methamphetamine, marijuana, THC products and drug paraphernalia.

Lewis was booked into the Jackson County Jail on charges including possession of methamphetamine, marijuana, THC and drug paraphernalia, along with interference with law enforcement and driving without a valid driver's license.

The passenger, 25-year-old Katie Vance of Havensville, was booked on charges of possession of methamphetamine, marijuana and drug paraphernalia.
