In a release from the Office of Leavenworth County Attorney Todd Thompson, prosecutors say 20-year-old Tyren Bradley, of Leavenworth, was sentenced Wednesday, Aug. 5, 2026, in Leavenworth County District Court to 2 years, 8 months in prison.
The county attorney’s office says Bradley was convicted of involuntary manslaughter on June 26.
Thompson’s office says prosecutors argued Bradley should serve prison time, while the defense asked the judge for a dispositional departure, saying there were “substantial and compelling reasons” to avoid prison. The release says the judge denied the request and ordered the prison sentence.
The release says the shooting happened April 28. Deputies with the Leavenworth County Sheriff’s Office were called to a home on Hillside Road around 2:50 that afternoon for a reported shooting, and the victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
Court records cited in the release say several friends were in the basement when the conversation turned to firearms. Investigators say Bradley pulled out a semiautomatic pistol and demonstrated what he described as a “trick,” then pulled the trigger, and the weapon discharged, striking the victim in the chest.
