Rural Shubert man arrested on drug, weapons charges

(KLZA)--A rural Shubert, Nebraska man is facing multiple felony charges following the execution of arrest and search warrants Thursday by the Richardson County Sheriff’s Office.

The Nebraska State Patrol arrested Max W. Shafer the Fourth on an active Richardson County warrant and turned him over to county deputies.

During a search of Shafer’s residence, the sheriff's office says deputies recovered evidence related to an assault investigation, including the alleged weapon used in the assault.

Authorities seized suspected marijuana, methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia, ammunition and a loaded handgun hidden inside a clock.

Shafer is a convicted felon and is prohibited from possessing firearms.

He faces felony charges of second-degree assault, use of a weapon to commit a felony, first-degree false imprisonment, marijuana distribution, possession of a firearm by a prohibited person and methamphetamine possession.

He also faces a misdemeanor charge of possession of marijuana.

The sheriff’s office thanked the Nebraska State Patrol for helping safely execute the warrants.
