(KAIR)--A midweek, Atchison traffic stop led to a drug-related arrest and to multiple charges for one.

According to a release from Atchison Police Chief Mike Wilson, 47-year-old George Lewis, of Atchison, was arrested Wednesday morning around 10:20, taken into custody on charges of possession of methamphetamine, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, transporting an open container, and failure to yield at a stop sign.

Police say the case began shortly after 10:00 that morning when an officer stopped the vehicle driven by Lewis in the 800 block of Laramie Street for a traffic violation. It was then Lewis was found to be in the alleged possession of controlled substances.

Following his arrest, Lewis was booked into the Atchison County Jail.
