(KNZA)--Horton city officials are proposing a 2027 budget that exceeds the revenue neutral tax rate.
The proposed $6.3 million budget carries an estimated tax rate of 50.17 mills, which is 7.6 mills above the revenue neutral rate.
The city would collect nearly $538,000 in property taxes, about $82,000 more than this year.
Horton's assessed valuation increased by nearly $479,000 to $10.7 million.
The City Commission will consider adopting the budget following a public hearing September 8th. The commission will also hold a separate hearing on its intent to exceed the revenue neutral rate
