(KAIR)--An 80-year-old convicted rapist, serving his sentence at the Lansing Correctional Facility, has died.
According to a release from the Kansas Department of Corrections, Larry James Gregg was found unresponsive in his cell Thursday. Staff and emergency medical personnel administered life-saving measures, but were unable to revive him.
The cause of death is pending the results of an independent autopsy.
The release notes that per protocol, when a resident dies in the custody of the Kansas Department of Corrections, the death is investigated by the department and the Kansas Bureau of Investigation. That investigation is ongoing.
Gregg was serving a life sentence for convictions of four counts of rape and four counts of aggravated indecent liberties with a child in Saline County.
