Veigel selected as Cobblestone Parade Grand Marshal

(KLZA)-- The Falls City Chamber of Commerce and Mainstreet has announced that Merle Veigel has been selected to serve as the Grand Marshal of the 2026 Cobblestone Parade on Saturday.

The 1966 graduate of Falls City High School enjoyed a long career with First National Bank which is now F&M Bank, serving as President of both institutions before retiring and continuing his service as a member of the Board of Directors.

Veigel dedicated 35 years to the Falls City Board of Public Works, including many years as Chairman, helping oversee the utilities that serve Falls City.

In addition to his professional career, Merle served with the Falls City Rotary Club, including numerous terms as President; served on the Falls City Student Aid Fund, Falls City Educational Foundation, Community Medical Center Foundation. Falls City Industrial Development Corporation, Richardson County Policy Board and the Sacred Heart Catholic School Foundation.

He has also been an active member of the Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church and is a longtime member of the Clefsmen.

The Falls City Chamber congratulates and thanks Merle Veigel for his decades of leadership, volunteerism, and dedication to Falls City.

The Cobblestone Parade will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in Falls City.
