(KLZA)--Work is underway on Nebraska Highway 4 in Pawnee County.
The Nebraska Department of Transportation says the nine-mile project includes culvert work, roadway resurfacing, shoulder grading and bridge construction.
Starting Tuesday, August 18, Highway 4 will be closed to through traffic between Highways 99 and 50 while a bridge is replaced.
Traffic is being detoured on Highways 99, 8 and 50. The closure is expected to remain in place through May of next year.
Traffic will be maintained on the rest of the project using flaggers and a pilot car. A 12-foot width restriction is in effect throughout the work zone.
Werner Construction of Hastings is the contractor. All work is expected to be completed by September 2027.
