(KNZA)--A veterans banner project is being planned for Highland.
Highland Funeral Director Jay Brock and local veteran Bill Noll are teaming up with the City of Highland to place banners honoring veterans along Main Street and K-120 entering Highland.
The banners will honor honorably discharged veterans, both living and deceased, and may include their photograph, rank, military service and medals.
The project is expected to include veterans from Highland and surrounding communities, including Leona, Severance, Bendena, Denton, Fanning, Sparks and White Cloud.
Each four-foot by 30-inch banner will cost $163.50, including tax. Families will be responsible for purchasing the banners, while brackets cost $49.50 each.
The Highland City Commission has agreed to purchase 50 brackets initially, with families encouraged to reimburse the city if they are able.
Brown Laser Works in Hiawatha will produce the banners.
Organizers hope to have some banners in place later this year, with all banners expected to be displayed by Memorial Day and Veterans Day.
For more information or to order a banner, contact Jay Brock at 785-741-0505 or Bill Noll at 785-741-3951.
