According to a release from Atchison County Sheriff Jack Laurie, deputies responded around 7:00 Friday evening, August 14th, to a report of a theft at 7007 Ellsworth Road in Effingham.
Laurie says it was reported that vehicle parts were stolen from the property sometime between Sunday, August 9th, and Friday, August 14th. Items taken included catalytic converters, wheels, and other vehicle parts.
Then, on Sunday, August 16th, the Sheriff's Office responded to a report of copper wire stolen from a property near Muscotah, on Highway 159 just east of Chase Road.
The release says the wire was cut from grain silos located on the property, with the first theft, not reported at the time, occurring in early July, with the second theft occurring between August 14th and August 16th.
Investigations into both thefts are continuing.
