There was no comment from the public. The Board reviewed the handbook, student fees and Title I program.
During the regular Board meeting Superintendent Jeff Koehler reported there were three new students who will be enrolling, making the projected enrollment for the 2026-27 school year at Johnson-Brock 349.
Superintendent Koeheler noted that staffing expenditures for the upcoming school year will be reduced by approximately $145 thousand and that he anticipates the same amount of expenditures for the other budget areas.
The required postcard meeting concerning the property tax levy will be scheduled for the latter part of September. The Superintendent anticipates a 7% increase in the tax levy which will amount to approximately a $350,000 - $370,000 increase in the request.
Board members approved a winter sports co-op agreement with Nebraska City for boys and girls wrestling.
Principal, Dr. Lucus Dalinghaus discussed a proposal developed with a number of activity sponsors to consolidate advertising and fundraising. The proposal would consolidate current advertising and fundraising efforts across multiple activities that would share in the proceeds.
Dalinghaus requested input from the Board and asked to continue monitoring the proposal in an effort to better prepare it for next year.
