USD 115 budget exceeds revenue neutral rate

(KMZA)--Nemaha Central USD 115 is proposing a 20-point-nine-million-dollar budget for the 2026-27 school year that exceeds the revenue neutral tax rate.

The Board of Education approved the budget for publication at its meeting last week.

The budget calls for an estimated tax rate of 60-point-six mills, which just under one mill above the revenue neutral rate.

The budget includes a reduced supplemental general fund levy, along with a special two-mill levy for driver’s education.

It also includes a 14-point-seven-mill levy for debt service on the 24-point-two-million-dollar bond issue approved by voters in 2022 for facility improvements.

Taxpayers in the former USD 442 portion of the district will also have a five-and-a-half-mill levy for the elementary-middle school bonds.

Overall, the district expects to collect more than 6-point-six million dollars in property tax revenue.

The board will consider adopting the budget following a public hearing September ninth. A second hearing will also be held on whether to exceed the revenue neutral rate.
