According to the unofficial minutes of the Jefferson County Commission's August 17th meeting, Sheriff Tim Bacon sought permission to upgrade the jail control system through Electronic Contracting Company, or ECC.
The upgrade would install an Imperium system in the existing jail area, as well as in the Sheriff's Office's new addition. The minutes note the system would function as its own complete system.
The total cost comes to roughly $326,000. That includes a down payment of about $163,000, followed by three payments of nearly $58,000 each. The minutes indicate the money is in the law enforcement budget.
Commissioners voted unanimously to approve the purchase of the new jail technology, along with the payment plan discussed.
