Richardson County budget review

(KLZA)--Richardson County Commissioners continued their review of budget request from various departments for the next fiscal year when they met Wednesday.

The requests would require $8,911,521 in property tax collections which would require a levy of 41.245 cents per $100 of assessed valuation which would amount to a 37% increase from the previous year.

Following Wednesday's review and taking into consideration reductions to be made, an approximate property tax requirement of $7,915,021 was reached with the proposed property tax levy decreasing to 36.633 cents per $100 of assessed valuation.  That figure amounts to a 22% increase from the previous year.

Commissioners will continue to review and consider options to reduce the requested Fiscal Year 2026-27 budget over the next several weeks prior to presenting a final proposal.
