The Atchison Foundation says the August 14 event generated a record $997,782.51 for 68 nonprofits. That included more than $847,000 in individual donations and $150,000 in matching funds from local sponsors and foundation grants.
A total of 1,480 gifts were made, and every participating organization received donations.
The Atchison After School Club exceeded its $25,000 goal, raising more than $28,000. The organization, formerly known as the Boys and Girls Club of Atchison, plans to use the funding for summer camps and other programs.
The Atchison County Food Pantry received more than $27,000. The all-volunteer organization reported a 25% increase in the number of households receiving food during the first six months of the year. The money will help cover food, office supplies and transportation.
Several foundations, businesses, religious organizations and individual donors provided the matching funds.
The record-setting campaign also came during a period of change for the organization behind All Aboard Atchison Match Day. The Atchison Foundation is the new name for what was previously known as the Atchison Area Community Foundation.
Executive Director Christa Rieger began in her role June 8, in time to oversee the outcome of the nearly $1 million 2026 campaign.
“We raised money for 68 nonprofits, and every single one got donations,” Rieger told Michelle Urban.
Rieger said support extended well beyond the local area, with donors from 23 different states contributing to this year's campaign.
“The Atchison Foundation builds bridges of giving for Atchison today for a stronger Atchison County tomorrow, because it's for the whole County,” Rieger told Urban.
Hear more from Rieger as a guest of “Better Living With Michelle” this Sunday morning, September 6, at 8:30 on 93.7 FM.
Along with Rieger's arrival as executive director, the Atchison Foundation is led by Chairman Ethan Hausmann. Dr. Susan Myers serves as secretary and Patsy Porter as treasurer. Aggie Asher, DeMaria Walters, Dr. John Eplee and Seth Galemore serve as board members.
