The former longtime Administrator, Clerk and Treasurer of the City of Falls City is being remembered.

Martin “Dick” Gist died August 27 at the age of 78.

Dick Gist was appointed City Administrator in 1975 and held the position for 32 years.

During his time on the job the city secured the purchase of power from the Nebraska City Power plant and the Falls City Library and Arts Center and the Falls City Aquatic Center were constructed during his tenure.

In 2009, he began working for the Sac and Fox Tribe and was the Chief Financial Officer for the Casino where he worked up until the time of his death.

Dick Gist is survived by his wife Mary Jane, a son Thomas and a bother Joe.

A memorial service for Dick Gist will be held Friday morning, September 4 at 11 at Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Falls City.

Inurnment will be at a later date.
