USD 430 adopts 2026-27 budget

(KNZA)--The South Brown County USD 430 Board of Education has adopted a 15-point-2-million-dollar budget for 2026-27 that exceeds the revenue-neutral rate.

The action came at the board’s September 9th meeting following a public hearing that drew no comment and approval of a resolution to exceed the revenue-neutral rate.

The budget carries an estimated tax rate of 58-point-248 mills, about two mills above the revenue-neutral rate. The district is expected to collect about 2-point-5 million dollars in property taxes.

In other business, the board accepted the retirement resignation of longtime Everest Middle School and Horton High School band teacher Mark Vittetoe. He will retire at the end of the 2026-27 school year after 45 years with the district.

The board also approved the purchase and installation of a new high school fire alarm system from Pinnacle Fire and Automation at a cost of nearly 37-thousand dollars.
