In a release, Leavenworth County Attorney Todd Thompson says 62-year-old Rickey Hundley pleaded guilty Wednesday to one count each of residential burglary and criminal damage to property.
Leavenworth County District Court records show Hundley was identified as a suspect in the November 2025 theft of copper from a church south of downtown Leavenworth.
During an interview with police, Hundley admitted breaking copper lines and taking copper from the church. Investigators determined he broke copper piping from three air conditioning units, causing more than 38 thousand dollars in damage.
Hundley was also charged in connection with a residential burglary June 24. Leavenworth police responding to a burglary in progress at a home near downtown detained Hundley at the scene.
Sentencing for Hundley is scheduled for the morning of October 28 in Leavenworth County District Court.
