(KLZA)-- A flash flood watch is in effect for Southeast Nebraska through Tuesday afternoon and includes Richardson, Pawnee, Nemaha, Johnson, Otoe and Gage counties. In addition, a flood watch is in effect from Tuesday afternoon through Wednesday afternoon for Atchison and Doniphan counties in Northeast Kansas and for Holt and Atchison counties in Northwest, Missouri. There is a threat of heavy rain and flash flooding through Tuesday morning with the potential for at least 1 – 2 inches of rain per hour during thunderstorms. Some reports of in excess of 5-inches of rain have been reported with the system that moved through the region Sunday night into Monday morning. The recent rainfall combined with the potential for repeated rounds of thunderstorms could lead to flash flooding in the region. Additional rounds of rain are possible through the remainder of the week.
