Dmitry Vanderbeek is charged in the death of 76-year-old Alfred Thulin, who was found dead in his cell on August 25th, 2023. A Nebraska State Patrol investigator was assigned to investigate the in-custody death.

Vanderbeek, who is serving 12 to 20 years for first-degree assault out of Douglas County, will be arraigned in Johnson County District Court October 15th. First-degree murder is a class 1-A felony.
