Former Oskaloosa paraeducator pleads to charges

(KNZA)--A former Oskaloosa paraeducator has pleaded guilty to misdemeanor charges stemming from the alleged abuse of a five-year-old nonverbal autistic child.

According to court documents, 26-year-old Breah Dame of Winchester pleaded guilty September 10th in Jefferson County District Court to child endangerment and two counts of battery.

Dame was originally charged with felony child abuse. She was employed as a paraprofessional at Oskaloosa Elementary School and was terminated November 7th, 2025, the same day the alleged abuse was reported.

Dame was charged in January following an investigation by the Jefferson County Sheriff's Department.

Sentencing is scheduled for October 26th.
