(KAIR)--A fall into an outdoor Atchison swimming pool sent a 2-year-old girl to a Kansas City hospital by helicopter Wednesday evening.

In a release, Atchison Police Chief Mike Wilson says police, first responders for both the Atchison Fire Department and Atchison County EMS were called to the 1200 block of Westridge Drive shortly after 7:00 to what was reported as a medical emergency.

The child was first transported to Amberwell Atchison for hospital treatment and then flown to Children’s Mercy Hospital in Kansas City.

No additional information regarding the accident was immediately released.
