August traffic fatality count for Nebraska

(KLZA)--During the month of August 2026, fifteen people were killed in traffic crashes on Nebraska roadways, according to data collected by the Nebraska Department of Transportation.

These 15 fatalities occurred in 15 fatal crashes.

Two of the eleven vehicle occupants killed were not using seatbelts, six were using a seatbelt, and three had seatbelt usage marked as unknown.

 Eleven of the fatalities were in rural locations.

There were four fatalities on the interstate, six on other highways, and five on local roads.

Three of the fatalities were motorcyclists. One of the fatalities was a pedestrian.

One of the fatalities was driving all-terrain vehicle (ATV)

There were 22 fatalities in August of 2025. 

 Only 44 of the 115 vehicle occupants killed during 2026 were using seatbelts.
