(KNZA)--Hiawatha Public Works Director Dominic Grier was recognized for 20 years of service to the city during Monday’s city commission meeting.

Mayor Becky Shamburg presented Grier with a certificate. The meeting was held at the Fisher Center due to the elevator being out of service at City Hall.

City Administrator Brad Scott commended Grier for his dedication and work, particularly under difficult conditions, including working rainy nights to clear clogged manholes and helping complete city projects.

Grier said his 20 years with the city had gone by quickly and that it had been an honor to serve. He said working for the city had been a career, not just a job.
