According to a release, that decision came during Wednesday night’s Valley Falls City Council meeting, with Batstone’s appointment taking effect that same day.
Batstone previously served Valley Falls as a police officer and will continue working in the community in his new leadership role.
As interim chief, Batstone will oversee the department’s day to day operations and work with city administrators, the mayor, City Council members and area law enforcement partners.
City officials thanked Batstone for stepping into the position and for his continued commitment to Valley Falls residents.
