(KNZA)--The search is underway for a new Jackson County public health officer following the resignation of Allie Meyer, effective September 10th.

The county commission accepted Meyer’s resignation at its August 31st meeting. She also resigned from the Northeast Kansas Environmental Services Board.

Meyer was named public health officer last spring following the resignation of Amy Hallauer.

Jackson County is part of the Northeast Kansas Multi-County Health Departments, which also serves Atchison and Brown counties.

The organization is recruiting a replacement.

Health department staff from Atchison and Brown counties will provide services in Holton until a replacement is found.
