(KNZA)--The Jackson Heights School Board has accepted, with regret, the retirements of two longtime district employees.

At its September 14th meeting, the board approved the retirements of Director of Technology Vern Andrews and second-grade teacher Shelly Riedley, effective at the end of the 2026-2027 school year.

Riedley has been part of Jackson Heights for 43 years, including the past 25 years as a full-time teacher.

Andrews began his career at Jackson Heights in 1989 as a math and computer science teacher before transitioning to his current roles as computer science teacher and technology director.

Both employees were recognized for their years of service to Jackson Heights students and the community.
